J. Francisco Maestas (that's his pretentious pen name. He also goes by Juan) has for the past fourteen years been a Graphic Designer/Illlustrator and has spent the last nine years working in local television, winning 3 awards including an Emmy in 2003 for Broadcast Design.

Although classically trained as an illustrator, Juan has always written narrative fiction- though his stories had always been told in the comic book medium. Realization that his real ambition was to create dramatic storytelling for cinema, Juan started working toward writing and directing films as an independent filmmaker.
